Ask the Pros: 2016 Bridal Accessory Trends

For some brides, it’s time to start thinking about how to finish off their wedding look. Should you wear a veil? Oh but that hair band looks really cool… oh that sparkly brooch looks amazing! Sound familiar? To help you narrow down your decision, I decided to ask one of my Vancity Vendors for some insight and inspiration. Elise McClain of The Borrowed Collection is sharing this season’s top 4 trends in bridal accessories. If you haven’t heard of the Borrowed Collection before, you’re gonna love this. They rent out bridal jewelry and accessories like veils, headpieces, and even belts. Instead of shelling out $500 for a necklace, you can borrow it for just $68. That’s just an example :) But without further ado… here’s Elise and her tips!

Trend 1: Headpieces, headpieces, headpieces!

Headpieces are by far our most requested accessory in 2016! Hair accessories have become as standard as high heels in bridal fashion and we couldn’t be happier, because we LOVE them! From combs and hairpins, to hairvines and crowns; with so many styles and options available, brides are finding the perfect piece to match their unique bridal style.  For instance, a fashion-loving, trend-setting bride might choose our Arielle Headband by Jennifer Behr (also worn by Lauren Conrad on her wedding day!), while a classic bride might prefer the sleek and elegant look of our Lotus Flower Crystal Comb.

Trend 2: Golden Hues

Wedding dresses are available in more beautiful hues than ever before and we’ve found that accessories are also trending that way! With blush being such a popular wedding color the past few seasons, gold accessories are a perfect choice to match. Take our Emme Comb by Enchanted Atelier & Pearly Primrose Sash for example: their gold accents have a warm, radiant glow, and what bride doesn’t want to glow?!

Trend 3: You Had Me at Hairvine

Hairvines have been gaining in popularity for a few seasons now, and we’ve found that this season, brides are ready to take more risks with the way they style them. Instead of simply wearing them to the front (which is still a very pretty option!), brides are styling them at the back of a low updo, wearing them to the front for a bohemian vibe, weaving them into their braids, and even wearing them as necklaces!

Trend 4: Long Chapel Veils

With so many wedding dresses being designed with amazing back details, long, simple veils have become the perfect accessory to make sure that the bride’s dress shines through. Brides that wear veils often do so because it is their one chance to do so- a rite of passage that they want to take part in. More and more, we are finding that brides are choosing to wear a long and romantic veil that sets the mood for the ceremony and since a long veil can be a bit much to handle at the reception, the act of taking the veil off can be the bride’s way of saying “let’s party!” Our two most popular long veils are our Lily Chapel Veil & our Whispering Roses Beaded Veil, which are both single layer and oh-so airy.
