The Metropolitan Vancouver Hotel for the Budget Bride

The Metropolitan Hotel for the Budget Bride

Take a stroll through downtown and you may not realize that there is an affordable wedding venue waiting for you, sitting amongst some of the giants in the industry. This not-so-secret jewel is the Metropolitan Vancouver Hotel. They are centrally located on Howe Street, north of Georgia, with easy access to transit, parking lots, and numerous landmarks like the Vancouver Art Gallery and the waterfront. One of Vancouver’s premier restaurants, Diva at the Met, is also the main caterer for all weddings held here. If you are looking to have a medium sized wedding with an urban setting, I urge you to have a look at this luxury boutique hotel.

I was able to get a tour of the facility, in particular the Cristal Ballroom and the Connaught Room. The Cristal is the larger of the two and is separated from the rest of the other ballrooms. It has its own street access entrance with a foyer, perfect for greeting guests. At almost 2,000 square feet, the room can seat 120 people for a banquet with a dance floor and DJ set up. The large room can be nicely sectioned out, for example, if you’ve got a dance floor, DJ, photobooth, and/candy buffet, they won’t be encroaching on each other’s space. They have another similarly sized ballroom called the Vancouver Room. I wasn’t able to get a good look because there was an event happening but it looked big and bright. It can hold 20 less people than the Cristal Ballroom in a banquet setting.

The Connaught Room is about half the size of the Cristal Ballroom and is in the main area of the hotel. This room would be perfect for intimate weddings, up to 60 people for a seated dinner, but less if you’d like a dance floor. It is a beautiful room with rich mahogany wood and floor to ceiling windows with shades that can be drawn. Both rooms have a neutral colour scheme and minimally decorated. They are beautiful enough to not have to use draping, which will lessen your decor budget. Flower arrangements on each table would be enough… if it were me planning :)  The rooms do have a rental fee however they can be waived once a minimum food and beverage spend is met, which is reasonable and easily attainable after looking through their catering package. If you’re interested in finding out the values for your event, you will have to contact the Metropolitan Hotel directly.

Your out-of-town guests will also be taken care of in case they need a place to stay. They can save 20% for 1 night’s stay upon check-in if they show an invitation to your event. Pretty cool, huh? Not to mention, if they’ve never been to Vancouver before, there will be lots of things for them to see and do in that area.

If you love what you see and are interested in finding out more, book a consultation with their Catering Manager, Nicholas Yamada (604-602-7778) and see for yourself if this venue is right for you. Check out their social media links if you’d like to find out more about them or to stay updated:
