5 New Year's Resolutions for Engaged Couples

You popped the question and the champagne and all is well… but it’s a new year and whether you’re just starting to plan or are halfway or almost to the big day, there are things that you can do to make the planning process a lot simpler and hopefully stress-free. Here are some New Year’s Resolutions to perhaps take into consideration :)

  1. Focus – The start of planning means there are so many things to think about and it can get quite overwhelming when you overload your plate. Prioritize and focus on the most important things first like budget, date, and venue. The little things can come later.
  2. Be Organized – Spreadsheets are your friend, or perhaps my downloadable templates. Sharing documents on Google allows all those involved to be on the same page. A wedding binder to keep all your receipts together could also be beneficial, as can some apps if you’re a little more high tech.
  3. Don’t lose sight of why you’re getting married – It’s easy to get on each other’s nerves while planning a wedding… so much so that the ugly side you didn’t know existed might show up. In the large scheme of things, the wedding is just a small aspect. You’re working towards a marriage. Don’t let the stress of the wedding destroy what you ultimately want.
  4. Work together – Use each other’s skills to your best advantage. Whether is be crafting, organizing, or even negotiating, work as a team to get things done.
  5. Enjoy it all – Planning a wedding can take years or even as short as a month. Enjoy the time that you’re given and have fun planning your special day. How often do you throw a party as big as this?
