The Renaissance Vancouver Harbourside Hotel for the Budget Bride

The Renaissance Vancouver Harbourside for the Budget Bride

You might remember a while back, I had the pleasure of featuring the Vancouver Marriott Pinnacle Hotel. Its Catering Manager, Koreena Singh, invited me out once again to have a look at their sister property, the Renaissance Vancouver Harbourside Hotel located just right across the street from the Marriott Pinnacle. She showed me the different banquet rooms they had available and I’m happy to report that there are lots of options with this hotel.

The first room I’d like to talk about is the Tuscany Room. It is not your average ballroom, because for one, it used to be a restaurant. They have recently renovated it and now it’s perfect for intimate weddings with up to 130 guests. It’s located on the Lobby Level of the hotel and may seem very open, with all the surrounding glass windows, but the area can be kept private for your event. It even has a separate street entrance which hotel patrons don’t use. The room has its own full hardwood bar, built in coat check, complimentary dance floor, and lots of space for mingling, including a separate room which you could use as kids’ area or photobooth room.

If you are thinking of having a cocktail reception, you must take a ride up their elevator and check out Vistas. It’s a revolving room at the top floor of the hotel, a truly unique space. Modern lounge furniture will be set up around the perimeter to allow your guests to relax, mingle and enjoy everyone’s company, not to mention the stunning views of the city! This space has also been the site of many rehearsal dinners, wedding brunches, and engagement parties. If you’re looking to have more of a casual atmosphere, definitely consider this room.

For larger events, the 2nd floor will be entirely yours if you book the Harbourside Ballroom. A guestlist of 130 to 500 people can party in this room and includes a big foyer where a ceremony can be held. The nearby Port of Vancouver Room is also part of the booking which can be used as a lockable Bride’s Room, coat check, or entertainment room. Lounge furniture and cocktail tables can be set up on the foyer to create an inviting space for people to get away from the party happening in the ballroom. Your guests will also appreciate the view of the water, North Shore mountains and a beautiful sunset through the room’s floor to ceiling windows.

3 course dinners cost as low as $52-$56 per person, but if you want to really treat your guests, the Renaissance has all inclusive packages starting at $90 per person which include a signature cocktail upon arrival, canapés and a 3 course dinner or buffet.

As with the Marriott Pinnacle Hotel, there are added perks if your wedding meets a minimum of 120 guests, including:

  • Day use of guest room for the Bridal Party
  • 1 night stay in a Renaissance Room
  • Complimentary valet parking for the Bride and Groom (overnight)
  • Fresh floral arrangement, chocolate truffles, sparkling wine & breakfast in bed for the newlyweds
  • Extended check-out time
  • Menu tasting for up to 4 guests

… and many more including the chance to earn Marriott Rewards points, which lots of brides have taken advantage of for use at other Marriott & Ritz Carlton hotels all around the world. If you have less than 120, speak with Koreena about special concessions because this package may be applicable to smaller parties as well!

Their wedding rates offer a lot of value. All packages include complimentary lounge furniture (white or chocolate brown), high top tables, leather bar stools, floor length linens for round tables, chair covers & sashes in your choice of colours, printed menus, and decor items such as torchiere oil candles and table number stands. You’ll be saving money on decor, as well as the hassle of sourcing it out yourself. If you’d like to supply your own dinner music, Koreena tells me you’re able to plug your mp3 player into their speaker system, this way, you can save on a DJ by having them arrive later in the evening. There are no room rental fees and minimum spends are negotiable and varies depending on the event. Rest assured, Koreena says she will do her best to accommodate you and your party.
