The Riverway Clubhouse for the Budget Bride

If you’re looking for a centrally located venue, check out this hidden gem in Burnaby. The Riverway Clubhouse Restaurant & Lounge has only been around since May, 2011 and they have already won a few awards including #1 reception facility in Burnaby, Best Brunch, Best Patio, & Great Ambiance presented by the Burnaby NewsLeader and OpenTable. Their facility offers beautiful wood beam architecture with excellent floor to ceiling window views of their pristine golf course. I was invited for lunch and a tour by their representative Kirstie Chitticks and here’s what I found out.

The Riverway Clubhouse There are no minimum spends at Riverway Clubhouse, they charge all-inclusive rates (starting at $79/person), which include your meal choice, menu tasting, podium, AV equipment (including big screen TV’s, a projector & and wireless microphone), full setup and take down of reception tables & chairs (excluding decor), staff and bartender, linens, napkins, table settings, cake table, cake cutting fee, signing table, and rehearsal time. Taxes and planning charges are also included in these flat rates so you don’t have to worry about any extra fees. Their in-house catering can help you customize your event menu or you can choose from their current menu options. They also have a vast wine list but you are allowed to bring in your choice of wine for a $15/bottle corkage fee (restrictions apply). The facility is also iPod ready so if you want to save some cash, just load up your player with your favourite songs and have it playing on their in-house sound system, also included in the price. Guests need not to worry about parking as well, there is a lot available and it’s free!

Events of all sizes are welcome at the Riverway Clubhouse. To attain a restaurant buyout, your guest list must be at least 130, otherwise a portion of the restaurant will still be available for other customers. The maximum capacity of the facility is 200 inside, and 150 on the large patio overlooking the golf course pond and fountain. The Riverway Clubhouse can also accommodate your ceremony for a $450 fee, which includes setup and take down of a maximum of 80 chairs (standing room available). Decorating and set-up times are very flexible and the staff at Riverway Clubhouse do what they can to accommodate the bride and groom’s timeline on their special day!

If you want to check out this facility, please send an email to the events coordinator at riverwayevents@burnaby.ca or call 604-297-4883. Thank you Kirstie for taking the time to show me around your gorgeous venue.

Jeannine, you may want to double check on the info about the minimum spend as I’ve just received direct correspondence from the venue and I quote, “Please note for Saturday bookings a minimum food spend of $14,250 (taxes and fees included) is required. For Friday and Sunday bookings a minimum food spend of $12,350 (taxes and fees included) is required. Alcohol is not included towards the minimum spend.”

None the less, it does sound like a terrific venue with lots to offer.

    Cheers,

Thanks Barb! They may have changed their policies since my posting went live 2 years ago… hence the disclaimer at the bottom :) But thank you for the updated info!
