4 iPhone/iPad Apps for Wedding Planning

Thanks to tablets and cell phones, information is right at your fingertips and they are there to make your lives easier… even when you are planning your wedding. I found a few apps that may be right up your alley! (By the way, these are not sponsored, I actually downloaded them and tried them out :) )

GuestPlanner by Jamella Creations Company

This app by Jamella Creations Company is an RSVP tracker and seat planner. You can organize your guests by RSVP, menu choice, table number, whose guest they are and more. A chart is updated each time you make an entry so you can clearly see how many people have replied and those you need to put a little pressure on. You can make notes on each guest as well as record their special requirements such as allergy concerns and if they need a high chair or not. They also have a customizable floor plan so you can simulate the look of your reception hall, figure out your seating plan and then export it into a nifty .csv file that you can then send to your wedding coordinator! After the wedding, you can track down gifts using the same app. You just have to input the cash amount or item into each guest’s profile and ta da! Makes writing thank you cards a lot easier. The only thing I don’t like about this is that the app is free for weddings under 50 guests… but you can upgrade for $4.99 to unlock a “virtually unlimited” guestlist. When I plan my next wedding, it will be something I would consider purchasing. Get it for your iPhone or iPad on iTunes.

The Knot Ultimate Wedding Planner HD

Every bride has probably heard of The Knot as it is probably the biggest wedding website in North America. When I planned my first wedding, their checklist was like my Bible. It’s very detailed and I love it so much. If you download this free app, not only will you get said checklist (and be able to knock each item off the list, literally)…. you can also use it as your virtual wedding binder and compile all your favourite inspiration photos from The Knot galleries. They also have a function to search for wedding vendors but this is pretty much useless for Canadian brides (especially Vancouver brides) as the choices are slim to none because the app will be searching through the Knot database only. They also have a Budgeter function. You input your budget and it calculates (depending on their criteria) how much you should be spending on each aspect of the wedding. You can then record what you actually did spend so you can keep track on your progress and see the end result (hopefully not overbudget :P). You can find this for your iPhone or iPad on iTunes.

If a new vendor approaches me, one of the first things I do is check WeddingWire to see if they are listed and if they have any reviews. It’s an extensive wedding review website and there are quite a bit of local wedding vendors listed there with reviews from brides as well as colleagues. This is a great research tool and it’s available for iPhone (but you can still view it on the iPad). Get it free from iTunes.

Of course, last but not least… Pinterest… the bride’s (and wedding planner’s) best friend. Create boards for every aspect of your wedding and pin all the images you like. Share that board with your wedding planner, bridesmaids, and whomever you want and have them pin photos to it as well. Think of it as a visual brainstorming session… and the best thing is, it’s free! Warning, you will be hooked!
