Recap: Brock House Wedding Show 2014

So what did I do this weekend? After checking out my boyfriend’s cyclocross race, I needed some girl time so I took my good (engaged) friend Karen to the Brock House Wedding Show… and we had a blast :)

We were able to meet a lot of vendors, but unfortunately not all. We had a game plan and focused on vendors she wanted to meet for her own wedding checklist so I introduced her to Uniquity Invitations, Gloss Boudoir, and Jeweliette.

While they were talking I was admiring the ambience of the show… Musical Occasions‘ string quartet was playing current hits, keeping the mood light and lively. It was so interesting to hear pop songs performed with classical instruments – very different!

There were also a lot of nice things to look at like tablescapes by Flowerz, The Flower Factory, Infinity Luxury Linens and Decor and more. There was a lot of pretty but also a lot of very unique vendors as you will see after these gorgeous images…

One of our favourites from the show… Petite Puf! They will bring their Petite Puf cart to your event and spin gourmet cotton candy for your guests. They were handing out free cotton candy cones in the flavour of our choice. I chose mango and they topped it off with chili powder, which they said was one of their signature flavours. YUM it was really good. My friend enjoyed hers too… hers was coconut chai!

Attendees were well-fed at the show… Upstairs Lavish Liquid was making signature drinks for everyone and Curious Oyster was shucking up fresh oysters for hungry guests… not to mention Brock House staff passing out hors d’oeuvres all day (risotto balls… yum).

Of course the cakes were scrumptious too. We were lucky to try The Uncommon Cake‘s chocolate cake and Cake by Nicole McEachnie‘s Paris flavoured macaron (raspberry and lychee… mmm).

As soon as the doors to the tent opened, we grabbed seats for the fashion show and we ooh-ed and aahh-ed at so many beautiful dresses… especially the Vera Wang Pink Collection. Thanks Blush Bridal for the great lineup of dresses. From the photos, clearly a glitzy or bare-it-all back is the trend right now in bridal fashion.

And last but not least… the bride’s Gift Bag! I was unpacking it to take photos of it and the bag was very full… and not just with cards, with actual stuff! Sarah and Geneve of Dreamgroup Productions promises an EPIC gift bag for next year so stay tuned! Here’s a peek at this year’s swag:

The Wedding Concierge was so helpful too. A quick question with DreamGroup planner Sandy Pandher and she was able to tell us who we needed to see for our needs. It was great having them around in case brides were either lost or overwhelmed. All in all it was another well organized show. Yes the Brock House was packed but if you have a game plan you’ll be able to efficiently navigate through the heritage house with ease.

My Tips for the Brock House Wedding Show

  • Do your research – if you know what vendors to meet, find them first.
  • If you’re more interested in the pampering services, go upstairs fast.
  • Keep your eyes open – you might just miss a server passing out hors d’oeuvres!
  • If you want to see the fashion show, grab seats as soon as the doors open… they fill up fast!
  • If you DON’T want to see the fashion show then this is probably a great chance for you to talk to vendors without too many people in the way.

Thank you again for another great show, DreamGroup! They will now be focusing on the Original Bridal Swap slated for Spring 2015. Can’t wait til that show and the next Brock House Wedding Show! The complete wedding album will be posted on my Facebook Page.
