Lovestruck Bridal Show Recap - Oct 16

I went to the Lovestruck Bridal Show last Sunday and I have to say, I was impressed! I could tell all the brides were having a great time getting pampered, mingling, trying out appetizers provided by Savoury City (great salmon lollipops by the way!) There was a great variety of vendors present which made for a very well-rounded wedding show. I liked that they included presentations by the Flower Factory and Hyperfocus Photography but I felt it could’ve been better if there was some kind of lighting on the stage so everyone can focus on them. It was a little hard to hear at times too but I’m sure whoever was paying attention learned a thing or two! My one regret was that I missed the fashion show. I couldn’t stay at the show that long so I’m still sad I missed all the fashions… :( The pampering stations were so busy, lineups instantly formed as soon as everyone got in the door, but once the wait was over, all I saw were beaming brides-to-be looking fabulous! With the amount of people that attended (possibly over 700) and the booths in the ballroom, it was a bit of a tight squeeze at some areas but that’s ok, it was a popular show so you really can’t do anything about that.

My favourite part was the foyer where all the moodboards were. At least 10 cocktail tables were set up to represent a different kind of moodboard which was great for brides to see firsthand what a certain theme looks like and what goes into it. Each moodboard included linens, a small wedding cake, dinnerware, cutlery, flowers or some kind of centerpiece plus little decor extras to complete the look. You can see some of them on my Facebook page.

Highlights & Show Promotions

Lonsdale Event Rentals has some great show specials: $1.88 each for any chair cover and sash and free delivery (setup not included), and for Lovestruck brides and brides who’ve registered with them at other wedding shows, they will take 20% off your entire wedding rental order! (20% off can’t be combined with chair cover deal.) This offer lasts til March 25th, 2012.

I met Mark from Absolute DJ Entertainment and he says if you book 1 year in advance, you can get one free upgrade which includes audio video rentals, a slideshow projector or a lighting package. For those who book his premium package, you can get a free dance lesson at Just For You Wellness Centre in Surrey. And for all bookings, if you have other parties like a bridal shower, stagette, or any kind of non-wedding related party, he’s willing to make a mix CD for you to play at your event!  A nice little extra :)

Cakes by Meg’s sweet table was to die for, as you can see right here. Meg tells me that a table like this costs roughly $500-600 and includes some baked goods, candy, cake pops, and a wedding cake (size may be different from the picture). It’s an option for those who want a wedding cake, dessert and wedding favors in one! Also, her cake pops are amazing. I’ve always found red velvet to be too rich but hers were just right, and they’re cheap! They make perfect little wedding favors.

The talented string quartet of Musical Occasions provided some classical music for everyone’s enjoyment. To hire a musician for your wedding it will cost $160 per musician for an hour and a half. Not bad if you just want a classical guitarist to play for your pre-ceremony, ceremony and cocktail hour! See their website for the list of musicians available for booking.

Pure White Studio was on hand with decreased rates AND a discount on a photobooth if you book with them. Their basic package is discounted to $3000 and includes up to 12 hours of coverage, engagement session, 2 photographers, digital negatives on disc and a 1 year online proofing gallery. With any booking you can get 15% off their photobooth rental, too! You must book within 2 months of the Lovestruck Bridal Show to take advantage of this special offer.

I met Kelli and Debbie, decorator and florist for Timeless Wedding & Event Decor and they’ve got a special promo for DIY brides! For $449 + HST you can get 100 chair covers (white satin, cream or black taffeta, 100 chair sashes, 12 table runners and 12 3-cylinder vase combo with crystals and floating candles. Items must be picked up on the Thursday before the wedding and returned the Monday after. They also have a 2012 wedding package special which includes chair covers, table runners, floral centerpieces and decor for the head, cake, and sign in tables for $1,599. Contact them to find out what else it includes. These offers are good for 30 days after the Lovestruck Bridal Show.

Cheri from Isabelle’s Bridal was there (if you haven’t read their feature yet, you should!) and she tells me they still have a rack of wedding dresses for sale for $500 and under. If you’re between the sizes of 10 and 20, you should pop by their North Vancouver location and check it out! If you’re looking for a dress that seems out of reach for your budget, Cheri encourages you to open up and let them know because who knows, maybe they can do something to help out!

Hot Wax DJ was pumping some tunes too and they tell me that if you book their 7 hour package with lighting, you can get a free one night stay at the River Rock Hotel in Richmond. A good perk for a future staycation.

Maru Photography has a great deal for brides who attended the Lovestruck Bridal Show. If you book them for your 2012 wedding, you can get a free engagement or trash the dress session, but you’ll need proof that you were at the show! This offer won’t last so contact them now if you’re interested! If you’re curious, her pricing starts at $2,495.

Randal & Meralon from Randal Kurt Photography was at Lovestruck promoting their Love² Sessions aka “Transformational Relationship Photography.” It is a photo session which encourages you and your spouse, friend, or relative to re-discover your connection by encouraging communication, and at the same time, that strong connection is reflected on your photos. Intrigued? Visit their website for more information.

Last but not least, you can’t go to a wedding show and not come out with FREEBIES! There were free copies of Real Weddings and Wedluxe magazines up for grabs and of course, the much-anticipated Lovestruck loot bags! Two happy brides gladly showed them off and the garter and pearl earrings were clear favourites!

It was a pleasure meeting everyone at the show. Congratulations to Angela Girard and the entire Lovestruck team for pulling off a successful event! Looking forward to next year’s! Thanks for having me!
