Lovestruck Bridal Show Recap - October 14

I had a great time at last weekend’s Lovestruck Bridal Show. It was a sensory overload… LOTS of prettiness wherever you look from cakes to floral arrangements to themed decor tables and designer wedding gowns! I was looking forward to seeing Jeff Leathem speak as well but due to some unfortunate circumstances they weren’t able to have him at the show. They got a great replacement though… Side One performed for the crowd instead – I couldn’t stay for their performance but I bet it was a rockin’! I came out of this show with over 100 photos… you’ll see them soon I promise! But for now, here are some promos you might be interested in!

I met Vancity Vendor Green Pomme Photography for the first time at Lovestruck. I loved her booth and adored the little green pommes she gave away to brides-to-be! She’s got a fantastic promo where you can save $550 off her 8 hour package which includes 2 photographers, an engagement session, images on a DVD, an online gallery and a 10×10 album. The cost of this package is $3,700 (reg. $4,250)  and Melissa has extended this show special to December 15, 2012 – just mention you found this promo on Vancity Bride and get the deal!

Vancity Vendor Pure White Studio were also on hand… well, two thirds of them anyway! While Derek is enjoying his honeymoon, Jason and Mark were holding down the fort and they want to share this promo with you! If you book a wedding with them within 2 months of the wedding show (December 14, 2012), receive a bonus 20-page coffee table guestbook (a $450 value). It’ll be custom-designed, have a beautiful photo cover, and will be bound with unique lay-flat pages. Don’t miss this chance with a great vendor!

Fleurish Floral Designs and Cakes By Meg teamed up to create 3 show-stopping sweet tables. Let me tell you, I spent the most time taking photos of their work because everything is just stunning. Did you know that if you book both Cakes By Meg and Fleurish Florals for your wedding, you will get a $100 credit on your floral order? It’s a collaborative effort between two vendors who have great chemistry, and the client gets the benefits! In addition to this, Fleurish also has show specials available, one of them being the Sweet Simplicity Package which includes a bridal bouquet, 2 bridesmaids’ bouquets, 2 medium ceremony arrangements, 2 stands, 4 boutonnieres, and 2 corsages for $1,000 (based on seasonal prices of flowers). Contact floral designer Sheona for more information on her other packages. The package deal and the $100 credit deal are valid until December 2013.

I also met Shari and Mike from Shari + Mike Photographers and I was blown away by their one of a kind booth and photographs. They want to share their current promotion with Vancity Bride readers. Book a wedding and receive $100 print credit with promo code ILIKESHMIKE. Better hurry though, this promo code is only valid until January 1, 2013! To see more of their work, check out their website.

I then walked into The Apartment’s truly chic and homey booth where I met one of the principal photographers Jeff Chang. I loved his and Cat’s work and when I asked about pricing, he told me they like to keep it simple by only charging a flat rate per hour of coverage but it includes 2 photographers, editing and hi-res files on disc, delivery within 6 weeks, and all travel costs & consultations. They want to offer Lovestruck brides and Vancity Bride readers 10% off wedding day coverage if they book before December 1, 2012. See their portfolio and contact them if you have any questions on their website.

I also met a couple of new vendors who cater to budget brides! Catherina Kovacs of Artistic Events has just been in the wedding industry for the last 3 years. Not only is she a wedding planner, she is also a freelance makeup artist! Being relatively new to the industry, her rates are still competitive and she can customize her packages to your needs. Check out her work on her website.

EdgeCeptional Catering is the other budget-friendly vendor I met. When I mentioned that my site caters to budget brides, they told me they cater to the same! I tried some of their appetizers and macarons and they were quite delicious… I had to go for a second macaron. Their rates are reasonable and they were even used by one of my featured brides. They also own The Edge Cafe, in case you want to pop in and see how great their food is.

There’s also a new face in front of the popular event design company, Delovely Creative. Meet Cailyn Bays, event planner turned event stylist. She decided to jump at the chance to front her own company… and Lovestruck was the best way to spread the news! Congratulations on your new venture Cailyn! She and Cakes by Meg teamed up to create a number of themed table settings (like this nautical one on the right) out on the foyer. There was a mood table for every style of bride and it was very hard for me to choose a favourite… It’s a three-way tie betweeen the darker Berry Cordial, the vintage woodland theme with the whimsical flowered cake, and the picnic theme… because I’m a sucker for unfrosted cakes!

Last but not least… the fashion show photos! First up was pure (something) clothing co. Designer Kathryn Bass creates custom, unique wedding dresses. I was told that her custom dresses can start at $1,000, depending on the fabric and detail of the dress. Not too bad for a dress that’s exclusively for you. Here’s a look at what they had at the show!

Next up is Langley’s Ivory Bridal. After chatting with them a bit I found out they’re actually having a moving sale! Save up to 70% off their sample dresses until the end of October when they move to their new location in Fort Langley… not too far away from their current Walnut Grove location. If you’re not looking for sample dresses, here are a few styles they brought on the runway.

All of the models were styled by the team at Hellcat Beauty, who were also at the show giving free makeovers to brides-to-be. Elements Spa for Nails were giving free manicures too!

It was a great show, loved what I saw and had a nice time catching up with vendors like Randal Kurt Photography, Kien and Sweet, Musical Occasions, and Maru Photography. Hope to see you all again soon! Thank you Angela for letting me be a part of this. If you’re interested in seeing the full gallery of photos, be a fan of my Facebook page and visit the gallery. That’s the end of my “little” recap… bring on the next wedding show! Stay tuned next week for another post like this!

I found that last year had more vendors and a fuller goody bag, but it was still fun. I loved getting my free quickie mani there.
