Recap: My Dream Wedding Show 2015

2015 is only a few days old but I’ve already got 1 wedding show under my belt! I decided to pop by the Vancouver Marriott Pinnacle Downtown Hotel and check out the My Dream Wedding Show. As I was walking up the stairs, I was greeted by the familiar sounds of live music performed by the talented Musical Occasions. I entered the main ballroom and it was nicely laid out. The fashion show was just starting when I arrived so I took that opportunity to meet some vendors I haven’t met before. I walked down the “dessert aisle” (as I call it) and met 2 new cake artists – Amazing Grace¬†Sweets and Cake “Does” Matter by Oven Lovin’. They had some amazing cakes on display… here’s a peek:

Also, the pastry chef at the Vancouver Marriott Pinnacle Downtown Hotel had their own desserts on display. I also had a taste of their mango passionfruit (I think that’s what the flavour was) cake sample and it was delicious. Wish I had the chocolate ganache cake too…

I finally managed to try one of Archimallows‘ marshmallows. They even torched it on the spot. They were saying that they also offer s’mores at weddings, which sounds like it will be a hit with your guests at cocktail hour or for dessert.

I also met a new cotton candy vendor at the show… and they have a food truck as well. They are Cloud Nine Cotton Candy. You can find them at different public events but you can also hire their mobile cotton candy cart for private events. It helps bring out the kid in all of us :) They also offer little cotton candy jar wedding favours like the ones shown below:

Mayhew Sherwood Florist also attended the show – in fact they told me it was their first wedding show, although they have been in business since 1946! You can visit their Kitsilano boutique and admire their vintage style arrangments in person, as I have done at the show today. I loved that they gave out little vials filled with flower seeds along with their flyer.

There were also some reception tables dressed up by Debut Event Design, Vancity Vendor Modern Mint Events and Chair Decor.

The Beauty Lounge was packed with women getting pampered and accessorizing themselves, trying to find that perfect look for their wedding day. I caught up a bit with Vancity Vendor Sweetpiece Jewelry.

There were some stationery options as well… Inspirasian Creations was there with their latest catalog filled with gorgeous unique invitations, as well as Gryb Designs, whom I haven’t been able to meet in person but I loved the designs she had on display.

We also managed to squeeze in a little photobooth session thanks to Storybooth!

Budget brides also took advantage of the Wedding Dress Sample Sale put on by Vancity Vendor Isabelle’s Bridal. I saw lots of excited brides trying on dresses and for those still starting to look for their perfect dress, the ladies at Isabelle’s also put on a fashion show.

Another neat thing I saw was 5 foot tall lit marquee letter rentals. Maybe not the best for budget brides but I think it’s pretty cool – makes for a nice backdrop for photos or as reception decor. I didn’t get photos of them but you can check out their website here – BU Letters.

All in all it was a great show – wish I had more time to look around but I hope to return next year :) Thank you so much Anca and the show team for inviting me.
