Tri-Cities Baker’s Market Recap –
July 9

Last Saturday, I was able to check out the third installment of the Tri-Cities Bakers Market. I saw some new faces (vegan brides, you might want to check them out) and there were also some familiar faces who have returned: French Made Baking was there with their pretty macarons, Em’s Gems with some more delectable cookies and some strawberry rhubarb loaves, Kimberley’s Kitchen with banana chocolate chip marshmallows and vanilla mini donuts, and Hearth & Larder with some new strawberry almond scones and mini jars of preserves that are great for wedding favors.

Heather & Hunny designed the beautiful cake that was part of the Budget Royal Wedding photoshoot over a month ago. She was at the bakers market with some cake pops (mocha, hunny, lemon, and oreo flavors) and cupcakes for purchase. As you can see from the photoshoot, cakes are also her specialty! She can do traditional or creative cakes and can make it vegan if you wish.

Fig & Plum’s specialty is pies. Peach pie and pecan pie were on the menu and some vegan brownies too. She likes to be creative when topping her pies, using fun, decorative cut-outs and lattice tops to make it look more special. If you follow me on Facebook, then you probably saw that post I found about wedding pies, it is definitely a great idea if you want a budget-friendly unique wedding dessert. Fig & Plum can make a pie fit for your occasion so if you’re interested, send an email over to figplum [at] gmail [dot] com to inquire.

C&C Cakery bakes outside the box. They specialize in vegan baked goods but non-vegan is also available. At the market, she had vegan cupcake pushpops (yes, like the candy but with cupcakes inside!), vegan cupcakes and pie pops. They apparently like putting pastries on sticks. :P I tried a sample of vegan cookies and cream cupcakes and I thought they were delicious, and I’m not vegan. Maybe next time, I’ll get a cupcake push pop :P She does weddings but only in the summer but accepts orders when she’s available throughout the year.

I met Olga of Dream Pastries, just starting out her baking business. She does cakes for all occasions in fondant or buttercream. She had some delicious petit fours available for sample and purchase, as well as bread pudding and alfajores. She doesn’t have a website but you can inquire by emailing her at dreampastriesbyolga [at] gmail [dot] com.

Looking forward to the next one bakers :) Hope to see you on July 23!

Everything looks delicious, gals! Good thing I don’t live closer, or I’d be putting on weight in no time! Looking forward to seeing the offerings on Facebook from the next market. What a great idea!
