Vancity Vendor –
Tomasz Wagner | Mananetwork
Tomasz Wagner’s love of photography stemmed from travelling. He found himself always looking for a compelling story to capture, which he then turned into works of art, much like his recent trip to South America. His photography has caught the attention of many and even inspired others to step outside the box with their own work. Tomasz created a fulfilling career out of what was once a hobby and for the last 5 years, he’s been telling the love stories of many Vancouver couples.
Mananetwork offers a wide range of photography packages to suit different budgets and needs. Pricing starts at $1,595 but other packages are available which may include multiple photographers, fine art photo albums, canvas prints, same day slideshows, online galleries, 8′x8′ coffee table books and DVD’s of edited photos. In 2012, Mananetwork will be expanding to include a videography team as well. With Tomasz behind the lens, your images will have the feel of a documentary, along with striking visuals that tell an inspiring story.

Tomasz frequently updates his blog with his latest work, but don’t forget to check out his Facebook page, too! Tomasz is also an avid Twitterer so follow him and see what he’s got to say!

A Few Words With Tomasz…
What do you have to offer for brides with lower budgets?
“We offer a number of different wedding packages to suit many different budgets. We also offer half day package for those couple who have shorter or more informal wedding plans. A half day photoshoot is usually enough time to capture the bride and groom getting ready in the morning, the ceremony and family photos/candid shots afterwards.”
How would you describe your shooting & editing style?
“My style and what I find appealing in wedding photos has evolved a great deal since I first started. I find that I strive to get very natural images with hints of vintage style thrown in to mix things up. I am definitely not a fan of overblown or overtly saturated, high contrast editing. My goal is to capture your attention with highlighted details without detracting the viewer from the overall message the photo is meant to display.”

What do you enjoy most about your job?
“One aspect of working for myself that I really enjoy is my capacity for unlimited creative freedom. I like to keep things fresh and mananetwork allows me to express that. It is also very rewarding to see that my clients like and appreciate what I do.”

What was the most creative shot you took and how did you come up with it?
“I find that some of my best work comes spontaneously. Whether it is the couple or what’s around me, I continually seek to find inspiration with whatever subjects and landscapes I’m provided. Sometimes it is a challenge, but that’s half the fun! I also find that going into each wedding with a clean slate pushes me to be even more creative, which is what I would like to do instead of always relying on the same cookie cutter photos ideas.
Here’s one for the ladies, I call it the shoe tree. The bride had two pairs of shoes one for her evening dress and the other to match her wedding dress.”

Which part of the wedding is your most favourite to shoot and why?
“Nothing beats a good start to the morning. As I said in one of my blog posts earlier this year, It’s an aura that sets a tone for that morning and maybe even for the rest of the day!“ – View cinemagraph.
What should your clients expect when they have their first consultation with you?
“Future clients can expect a casual and relaxed meeting over tea or coffee. I expect nothing more then a good comfortable atmosphere where the client can tell me more about themselves and what they’re looking for.”

How did you come up with your company name?
“That is actually an interesting story! Back in highschool a class project required me to create a fully functional webpage. For a few bonus points I went the extra mile and bought domain space to host my site. The name has stuck with me ever since! I recently added my name to the company title to add a bit of a personal touch.”
If you had one piece of advice for a bride and groom, what would it be?
“While there are many things to take into account, I’ve found that the top three things to place emphasis on (in no particular order) are price, compatibility and style. Price is a no brainer, but the best photographs usually happen the couple are comfortable with the person behind the camera. Lastly, invest some time into looking at photographer portfolios to see if you like their over all style and not just the first few photos you saw on their website.”
