A Few Words With Jessica…

What do you have to offer for brides with lower budgets?
“If your wedding is going to be shorter (as in hours), I do offer an hourly rate as well.  Of course, if they mention they found me through VANCITY BRIDE, I will take $100 off their engagement session.

What sets you apart from others in the same field?
“I really focus on capturing the personalities of a couple.  I spend a long time communicating with couples to make sure that I really understand their style, wishes, and of course, vision.  If they have a specific vision in mind, I will work hard to create it.  Sure, it may take more time, but in the end, it makes for better pictures.”

What do you enjoy most about your job?
“I love the opportunity that comes with my job.  The opportunity to meet great people, and of course, the opportunity to work in such a great environment.  There is nothing that I cherish more than the fact that couples are entrusting me to capture moments from their special day.”

What was the most creative shot you took and how did you come up with it?
“My most creative shot was taken in an antique bookstore.  I loved everything about it.  I had had my eye on it for a while, and so when I met the right couple for the shoot, everything just came into place.”

Nouvelle Photography

Which part of the wedding is your most favourite to shoot and why?
“Bridal session. Other parts of the wedding can get very busy and tense.  This is usually the time of the day when the bride really has time to reflect on what is going to happen and her journey up to this point.  As a photographer, it is the best time to get creative and really capture how special the day is.”

Where is your favourite place/part of the city to take pictures for a shoot?
“Richmond. –I know, right?!  Aside from being able to find parking, there is a lot of variety in Richmond.  My favorites include, Steveston Village, Britania Shipyard, the tall grass and Iona Beach.”

If you had one piece of advice for a bride and groom, what would it be?
“Hire a planner, or at least a friend to do the planning and running around for you.  Especially for photos, it is so important for the bride to be relaxed and happy.  It makes the world of a difference.”
