Vancity Vendor: Wilhelm Wedding Cinema

This week’s Vancity Vendor is a videographer just breaking into the Vancouver wedding scene. Meet Evan Bourque of Wilhelm Wedding Cinema. His strong passion for storytelling helped get him to where he is now. After graduating from a digital media program and years of honing his skills, he began capturing weddings and eventually opened his own company, which has been in business for about half a year now.

The starting price for Wilhelm Wedding Cinema’s services is $2,000 and includes 2 videographers (Evan and his associate Dwight Jantzi), full day wedding coverage from start to finish, a highlight reel as well as the full ceremony and reception. They also offer additional products like Same Day Edits, wedding invitation videos, and something they call a Love Story Video. It is basically an interview with the bride and groom that tells the story about who they are, how they met and more! This is filmed weeks in advance and can be shown at the couple’s ceremony or reception. Evan knows firsthand that it’s a great way to start the festivities. If you have a great idea for the video, Evan and his team are open to anything unique and creative. They strive to do their best to bring out each of their couples’ personalities into their videos. In case you’re wondering how long you have to wait to see the complete final product, they say that the turnaround time is usually 3 weeks.

A Few Words With Evan…

What do you have to offer for brides with lower budgets?
“Currently we don’t offer any specials on packages but because we have low overhead costs to maintain our business we are able to offer affordable services all the time for brides working on a budget. While other video companies charge thousands more than us we keep our prices low while still delivering quality HD videos.”

How would you describe your shooting and editing style?
“We pay close attention to detail and try to deliver a video unique to each couple. This means capturing the personality of the bride and groom in each wedding we shoot.”

What sets you apart from others in the same field?
“Wilhelm offers unique services on top of the standard wedding packages. We offer engagement videos which are a great way to let people know you are getting married as well as invitational videos which are a new and fun way to invite people to your wedding. Our Love Story interviews are also a fun way hear the couples’ story from both the brides point of view and the grooms.”

What is your all-time favourite video you’ve shot and edited and why?
“Our favorite videos are the engagement videos we’ve shot because it’s always heartwarming to watch the proposal happen in real life and get to capture it on video and show it to the world.”

What do you enjoy most about your job?
“At Wilhelm we love capturing the moments that a photo can’t quite capture and allowing a couple to relive it years down the road. Moments like that funny comment that someone made or a passionate kiss. A video can let a couple feel the way they did on their wedding day whenever they watch it.”

What should your clients expect when they have their first consultation with you?
“During our first consultation we love to first of all meet the couple and build a relationship. We then discuss the logistics of the wedding including pricing. We also go over the expectations of us as a film company to ensure we deliver exactly what the bride is looking for.”

If you had one piece of advice for a bride and groom, what would it be?
“Don’t go to sleep angry :)

Wilhelm Cinema produces such stellar work! They are also amazing to work with. As a photographer, I absolutely love their non-intrusive style, yet they still always get the moment. A pleasure to work with this company!
