Sunshine Coast Budget Wedding: Julie + Socrates

Really love this gorgeous submission by Vancity Vendor BAKE Photography. She had the honour of capturing Julie and Socrates’ destination wedding at Halfmoon Bay on the 8th of September, 2012. The photos may look deceiving but the couple only spent around $14,000 on their special day. They were wed in a gorgeous natural setting with a stunning sunset, plus they had fire dancing and their guests had a blast with sparklers… which made for some memorable photos, you’ll see below! Here’s how the wedding day went through the photographer’s own words…

“Julie and Socrates wanted their wedding to be representative of all the things they loved.  They wanted to create a special day where they really enjoyed themselves, and an opportunity for their families and friends to get to know each other, so they planned a weekend getaway on the Sunshine Coast. Fifty-five guests, close friends and family, from Montreal, Mexico, and Vancouver, took the ferry across, and contributed to making the ceremony magical, and the celebration a blast.  The event was kicked off with welcome margaritas and appetizers, followed by a touching ceremony on the beach, officiated in English and Spanish, with a gorgeous sky and BC coastal setting in the background.  The mariachis started playing, and drew the guests to take their seats in the yurt, where a family style dinner of seafood cioppino and roasted pork was served.  There was music and dancing, and sparklers!  The party went late into the night, offering something for everyone, even a bon fire and fire dancing. It was a truly magical day from start to finish!”
